Gordo's owns its own name in Google. But when Nashville searches for tacos, burritos, or taco catering without typing the word "Gordo's," the site is parked on page 2 and 3, where clicks effectively go to zero. The good news: the rankings are close, the competition hasn't claimed the core taco searches, and the cause is structural and fixable.
Of roughly 560 estimated monthly organic visits, about 549 come from brand searches: "gordo's," "gordos nashville," "gordo's taqueria." Those visitors already knew about Gordo's before they opened Google. Only about 11 visits a month come from people discovering the restaurant through what it sells.
One more wrinkle: a large share of the branded keyword footprint actually belongs to unrelated restaurants named Gordo elsewhere in the country, so even the branded number flatters the picture. The real local brand demand is healthy, but smaller than the raw count suggests.
These are the searches people type when they are deciding where to eat, and where Gordo's ranks for each one today. Position 1 to 10 is page 1, and roughly 90% of all clicks happen there. Positions 11 to 30 are pages 2 and 3, and SEMrush estimates every keyword below produces zero visits at its current position.

792 keywords and 74 non-brand page-1 rankings, almost ten times everyone else. Their multi-city site publishes separate pages for every menu, meal, and location. That is not better tacos winning; it is more pages winning. It is also the playbook Gordo's can run locally.
No competitor in this set is on page 1 for "tacos in nashville," "taco nashville," or "nashville tacos." Page 1 today is mostly listicles and directories. Gordo's is the best positioned restaurant of the five on all three. The lane is open, but it will not stay open.
Resting Burrito Face and Dos Santos own "breakfast burrito nashville," and Salty Burrito ranks for "breakfast burrito near me," a 90,500-per-month search. The lesson worth stealing: a focused page about one dish can outrank bigger sites.
Gordo's is the only one of the five ranking at all for "taco catering nashville," just two pages too low to matter. Nobody else is even trying. More on this in Finding 04.
One page, built for one search, repeated in every city they enter · SEMrush, Jul 14–15
Their Nashville location opened in December 2024. Less than two years later, a page built for one dish is #2 for that dish's search. The rankings follow the pages, not the other way around.
The /catering page already ranks 19 to 23 for "mexican catering nashville" and "taco catering nashville." Advertisers pay $3.31 to $4.27 per click on those searches. When businesses pay that much for a single visit, it is because the visit leads to high-ticket orders. Difficulty on these terms is low, competitors ignore them, and a catering order is worth many times a walk-in table.
Every ranking Gordo's has comes from just five URLs, and the homepage carries 280 of the 354 keywords by itself. There is no page on the site built to answer "best tacos in Nashville" or "taco catering for 50 people," so Google ranks the homepage weakly for everything instead of one page strongly for each thing.

The fix is not ads and it is not rebuilding the brand. It is publishing dedicated, genuinely useful pages that each answer one search Nashville is already making.
